Gibson 70s Explorer Reissue – 2008 – Ebony
Excellent early 2000’s Gibson Explorer reissue in ebony nitro lacquer. All original with white 4-ply plastics aged to a light cream. Comes in original hard case without papers, and weighs 8lb and 9oz and is set up on 10s. Condition is very good, an excellent instrument, neck and frets are very clean. Usual sins of black lacquer, sink, checking, hazing, light impressions, minor dings and knocks on the edges. Aging gracefully. Plastics are mellowing to cream.
Condition
Various small marks, dings and flaws in the black lacquer. See the pictures, ask for more. Light buckle rash, light impressions, small flaws in the finish. The lacquer is wearing thin on the corner of the lower horn, light buckle rash, hazing where skin contacts. There’s spots visible from certain angles on the front of the headstock, pixel sized, possibly a reaction to something. Black lacquer can look both good and bad depending on light and angle. Generally, this Explorer presents as excellent, but flaws can be found. Lots more pictures of this one at my site which Reverb doesn’t want me to link to, but if you put a dotcom behind my shop name, you’d already be there. See the pictures, ask for more.
