Fender Musicmaster-Mustang-Jagstang Hybrid – 1978/2005 – Coral Pink

Take a 1978 24″ scale Fender Musicmaster neck with S serial# on the front of the headstock and add to a refinished Fender 2005/6 Japan Jagstang body with a vintage single coil 70s DUO-SONIC pickup in the neck and D’Marzio Super Distortion DP100 added to the bridge. The Duo Sonic and Musicmaster were actually 22.5″ scale instruments but sometimes left the factory with 24″ short-scale necks, matching a Mustang. The 70s style F tuners are reproductions, but the nut and string tree are original. This makes for a hugely versatile instrument with the Mustang/Jagstang in-and-out of phase controls. The Jagstang body was refinished in Coral Pink by Pat Wilkins. A Fender Mustang bridge with wrapped posts for tuning stability does intonation duty, and a Mustang Dynamic Vibrato tailpiece in the rear holding it all down. Comes in an older vintage Fender offset case from the 60s with 2 working latches. A strap replaces the missing catch, vintage racecar style. It looks good in there, weighs 7lb 9oz and is setup on 10s. A bit of a mix up, but the fun with Fender is that they are sometimes more than the sum of their pieces. Condition

Not much on this instrument is new or pristine, neck and body were not paired at the factory, obviously. Neck shows wear, as you’d expect for a 50 year-old part. The paint is very clean mostly, is the newest part of the instrument, shows light play wear, hazing, light impressions.
