Fender 1975/2025 Mustang MG-73 Hybrid w/Rosewood – Competition Capri Orange

A beautiful marriage of old and new parts – with a modern 2025 Vintera Capri Orange MG-73 Competition body with vintage pickups, but the star of the show is the neck, it’s an original 1978 USA Fender Musicmaster 24″ rosewood neck with pearloid dots, with new Fender F style tuners applied to the old wood. Lots of wear, as you’d expect from something now pushing 50-years-old. The string trees are original to the neck, as is the finish on the neck and the decals. Usually a Musicmaster is 22.5″ scale instrument, but during the 70s a 24″ (Mustang scale) neck was used too, probably pulled from a batch, I can’t explain why but they are around.

The neck pickup reads 5.7k, the bridge reads a hot 9.1k. Chicken head knobs do duty on the Volume and Tone controls, a nice vintage looking touch. Comes in an aftermarket hardcase with tremolo arm. All the usual in an out of phase switching is stock, all the wiring is of the vintage cloth type, makes lots of great noises, has mad energy, looks and feels great doing it. Weighs a lightweight 7lb and 4oz and is setup on 10s.

Condition

Very good condition, the body is excellent, patina on older metal parts. The neck has 50 years of indelicate wear, staining and patina, is not new, not pristine. All wiring, hardware, frets, pickups and electronics are in excellent condition. The neck has a few nicks and small dents, hard to spot, light hazing, scratches, playwear and patina. Body has a few small flaws. Wiring is upgraded to vintage cloth type. Body has lightest play wear, one or two small flaws in the finish. See the pictures, ask for more.
