2012 Gibson 50th SG Pete Townsend Anniversary Edition

The Gibson 50th Anniversary SG Special, a signature instrument for Pete Townsend in Polaris White is a rare and beautiful thing. This one is hand wired with bumblebee caps and CTS pots, the pickups were swapped for D’Marzio vintage voiced p90s that read each at 7.7k and 3.6k on the split. The rest of the guitar remains stock. This one is a beautiful player grade instrument. Weighs in at 7lb and 8oz and is setup on 10’s and comes in a Gibson high quality soft-case, looks good in there.

Condition is 8/10  for light discoloration and non-original parts, small, hard to spot flaws, minor play wear – this guitar in this rare finish looks and sounds amazing, aging gracefully, see the pictures, ask for more.

Condition

This instrument is in beautiful player grade condition. It’s not a case queen, it has been used and played and looked after as well, modified too, then changed back to stock. The paint is generally very good but there are a couple of spots where it has through contact with other material become slightly yellowed or discolored. There’s a small ding beside the bass bridge post, that’s the worst finish damage, other than discoloration. There is light checking, some lacquer sink, full spectrum Gibson nitro aging, but in a fairly new thing. It will continue to age and change, 20 or thirty years it will look like something else, get used to it, but don’t. There is a blue-black mark on the lower bout around the strap button where the nitro finish has absorbed some color from a black leather strap, there is a slight yellowing on the back of the neck, probably where the instrument contacting the case, and there is a small, discolored area on the back of the headstock consistent with a tuner nitro burning the finish, another nitro burn at the neck from a stand. White nitro is notorious, this is one of the better ones, Polaris White is an extremely rare color, this one looks great with just a few small flaws and minor dings.
