Gibson Les Paul Special Reissue – TV Yellow relic w/Evertune – Il Monstro

Il Monstro – the Monster; a fitting name perhaps for this monstrosity – who could do such a thing? What it essentially is a heavy relic Les Paul Special in R0 flavor in heavily relic’d TV yellow of the muddiest, most oxidized shade, which some maniac has purchased, routed and installed an Evertune system on. R0 means a thinner neck profile, hot P90 pickups, button style vintage Kluson tuners, UFO knobs and thumb-bleeders – classic recipe. The paint is the color or mustard, everything is covered in wear and patina, checking abounds, paint is missing – it is still glorious. For the so very few. Fresh setup on 10s by the guys at Eric’s Guitars in Van Nuys, CA, who are my go-to luthiers in Los Angeles. Weighs a fairly chunky 8lb and 8oz. It looks like a strange alien weapon, very cool thing. Tuning stability is obviously excellent, pickups sound amazing, handwired with bumblebee capacitors. Comes in a vintage 90s Gibson case with satin shroud that’s seen some things but is still fit for purpose with working latches and lock.

Condition

Not new or pristine, shows light checking, lacquer sink, light impressions, swirls, buckle-rash, small flaws, wear, dings and every other condition of aged nitro lacquer. Presents as very good or excellent, beautiful instrument, fit for purpose, for the very few.
