2006 Fender Custom Shop 60’s Stratocaster – Relic – Matching Headstock

A 2006 creation from the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California. A 1960 reissue relic from the factory in Candy Apple Red with matching headstock, rare and beautiful, here with a fresh professional setup at Eric’s Guitar Shop in Van Nuys, California. Slab rosewood fretboard, relic Candy Apple Red relic metallic finish, aged everything. Great condition with a clean neck and great frets, fantastic looking and feeling, this is one amazing instrument. It weighs just shy of 8lbs at 7lbs and 13oz, has a beautiful maple neck with a deep, dark Madagascar rosewood fretboard and bright pale clay dot inlays and 21 bright, clean frets. The frets are medium jumbo 6105 and the standard controls are hand wired to a set of 60’s Custom Shop strat single coil pickups. 5-way switch, 1 volume and 2 tone controls, 9.5″ radius ’59 C style neck, though it feels slim. Comes in the original hardcase with COA and some other period ephemera – tags, care for your Fender and the factory tremolo arm.

Condition 

9.5 out of 10 – Lightest play wear, excellent, aesthetically and sonically. It’s a medium relic, so I’m not going to comment too much on finish condition, but it looks and feels amazing which is ultimately all that counts. It’s covered in artistically applied and aesthetically pleasing wear and checking like only the Fender Custom Shop can do. For something like this the question remains, do you like it? If so, then this might be for you. Neck is without dings, excellent slab rosewood fretboard. I would definitely characterize as a medium to medium/heavy relic, but without the usual acid sweat arm wear on the upper bout. Lots of the silver undercoat showing. It’s a work of art, it really is quite amazing, if you get it, you get it. It takes the worry out of dinging a pristine instrument, certainly. Comes with tags, certificates not including the floor sheet. Decals on top of the finish, vintage spec.
