2005 Gibson Les Paul 1960s’ Classic – Cherry Sunburst

Check out this classic Classic from 2005, one of the later of these early reproduction style instruments in a beautiful Cherry Sunburst gloss nitro finish. The body cavity is marked LB under the neck pickup, maybe Light Burst, and LPCS (Les Paul Cherry Sunburst) under the bridge pickup. This guitar previously had EMGs installed, it has been rewired with a set of Gibson 490R/T pickups with vintage cloth wiring, orange drop capacitors. Looks and sounds excellent. Comes in the vintage 90s Gibson Pink Lady shrouded hard case. Weighs 8lb and 12oz and is setup on 10s. Pickups read 7.7k in the neck and 7.9k in the bridge. The Cherry Sunburst has a lot of orange buff tones in it, not a trad clown type burst.

Condition is 8/10 for minor play wear, modification. Aging gracefully. Plastics and hardware are original minus the truss rod cover which is from a Standard, pickups and all wiring is modern of the vintage braided or cloth wrapped type. The original instrument would have had uncovered 498/500 type pickups which are a little too hot for my taste.

Condition

Shows play wear, not new, not pristine. Presents as very good or better – a very beautiful player. Not new, various small impressions, flaws and signs of use and wear. There’s a small amount of checking on the sides, some worming and light buckle rash, light dings and scratches on the sides and back, hazing, wear around the controls. A real-life relic, aging gracefully. Classic style truss rod cover replaced with older LP Standard style, the original is included.
