1990 Gibson Les Paul Custom ’60s – Pre-Historic – Cherry Sunburst

Check out this turkey – a rare Gibson Custom from 1990, before the Custom Shop proper kicked off, a Pre-Historic with a heavily flamed top and a regular serial number dating to August 8th of that year. Beautiful 2 piece heavily figured, almost tiger-striped top book-matched with 57 Classic pickups with an ebony board and wide flat frets and block Mother of Pearl inlays. Binding everywhere and rare cream plastics, all original. The guitar is not wearing the pickguard which shows as little wear as the rest of the instrument but is included with original mounting hardware. Original wiring, metal shielding plate still in place, truss rod has full adjustment still. The guitar is as it appears, a very rare and beautiful pre-Custom Shop Cherry Sunburst Les Paul Custom with a fantastic top, in excellent condition. Comes in a period correct Gibson factory hardcase with satin shroud, and the pickguard and original gold mounting hardware to fit. Weighs an un-weight-relieved 9lb and 6oz, setup on 10s. Pickups read 8k & 8.3k on neck and bridge.

Condition is 9/10 for minor play wear, modification. Aging gracefully, rare condition, see below.

Condition

Not new or pristine, shows very light checking, lacquer sink, light impressions from play, swirls, light buckle-rash, small flaws in the binding. Presents as excellent, beautiful instrument with light playwear, no repairs or damage. Gold lightly worn off the bass side tail stud, light patina on metal and plastic, bridge and off the edges of the pickups. Original nut nicely replaced with a bone one in 2006. Heavily figured top looks fantastic. See the pictures, ask for more.
