Ibanez PF300-CS Performer – 1978 – Cherry Sunburst
Made in October of 1978 by FujiJen Japan for Ibanez (Hoshino Gakki) at the end of the lawsuit period comes the Ibanez PF300-CS Performer – Cherry Sunburst – this design is the Japanese company’s response to having to innovate in new ways from the earlier days where they just copied American instrument design. A year earlier this instrument would have had an open book headstock, like a Gibson. It is still essentially an LP design, but with the addition of the coil split switch on the neck pickup, one of the two matched Super70s by Maxon. The hardware and plastics are mostly stock, with gold Speedknobs, black flat-topped switch, gold Star Gotoh 3×3 tuners, and a Quickchange Ibanez tailpiece holding everything down.
Weighs 8lb and 12oz, setup on 10’s, comes in a vintage Toyo Gakki Japanese hard case.
Condition
Light fret wear, large cracks in the finish on the front, wear consistent with a 50 year old instrument. Full adjustment left on the truss rod, knobs are not original. All other hardware and plastics is original to the guitar, shows lots of patina. Everything works well, Super70 pickups sing. See the pictures, ask for more. As always, lots more pictures of this one at my site which Reverb doesn’t want me to link to, but if you put a dotcom behind my shop name, you’d already be there.
